we met the midwife!

Last week, at what we thought was our 8 week Dr visit, we discovered that we were really only 6.5 weeks along. We did get to see an ultrasound, which was pretty amazing. We even saw a little flutter of a heart beat! It's simply amazing all that is taking place right now. So, it's still very early on...and our little embryo is NOW just the size of a blueberry. Keep truckin' little one!

We met with a great Nurse Midwife at UCSF who will be helping to take care of us through this process. We'll see her again in 5 more weeks! I am really crossing my fingers that by that point all this crazy nausea will be gone (oh yes, it started!) and I will be eating more than toast and plain pasta (no exageration...really.)

lentil to blueberry

Tomorrow starts week 7 and the little nugget inside is transforming from the size of a lentil to the size of a blueberry. in embryo-worlds, that seems like a big deal.

The thing that seems most surprising to me is that day to day I feel different. I can pretty much depend on feeling a little better after breakfast and needing to eat every couple hours but the fatigue is catching up with me and I seem to be a bit more sensitive the past couple days. Thank goodness Josh is putting up with me. Thanks Babe, too, for turning off the light each night as I am falling asleep, literally, as my head hits the pillow!

this is really happening!

The tests prove it. Wow. We are in for a journey and its sinking in more & more every day. It's pretty amazing all that is happening in the body right now, too! So far so good on the morning sickness (or as i have heard "all day sickness") but i am starting to feel really tired, am clearly hungry and have to admit to some moments of "baby brain". And who knows what tomorrow will bring. We have our first Dr's appointment on the 21st and I'm really looking forward to it.

Davis Baby is in the making....
